PARISH COUNCIL NOTES: MAY 2010
Community Worker: Carolyn has had an invitation to be on the National Board of the Christian Education Commission. Parish Council approve her appointment as part of her role as the Community Worker.
She has also been invited to join the Wakari Hillls Assoc Exec (will attend first meeting and see what is involved), Vision 20/25 June 15-17, Bright Spots Summit in Auckland in July (no decision yet, but will if travel, etc is paid for. Oversight Group to monitor),
The community flyer is ready to go to the printers. “It is part of our health and safety policy that all leaders for children and youth activities are police checked” will be written in the flyer. OT students working on ‘pre-school gym’ group based in Wakari June 8-25. Council approved $150.00 budget for travel and some base materials. The monthly skills meeting was attended by 23 people, the May meeting is a ‘Community Meeting’.
Approached by Wakari Hospital regarding a possible client who lives in the community and would benefit from an alongside relationship and/or involvement in a church programme during the week.
The ‘Dream Team’ to begin again our self review of our kids programme at Flagstaff – Cheryl Harray will facilitate the meeting in her role as Kids Friendly coach. Morning tea at St Mary’s school in June. Attended Ministry Conference – a positive experience.
Intern: Marty spoke regarding his work in the Parish and his studies.
Long term Ministry Working group: An e-mail has been sent to Peter McKenzie (Uniting Congregations) and we are waiting on answers to our questions.
General Business
AGM/parish councilors: 5 councilors are coming off-please pray to seek God’s guidance on this. It was suggested the AGM be held at a combined service on 29th August – to be confirmed.
Sound System: A new computer is needed at Wakari to have a monitor in the front of the Church – approximate cost of hardware and software $2,500. Three new microphones and new speakers needed at Wakari - $2,500. The desk at HWB to be moved to the back of the Church and new speakers - $1,500 – with new speakers and microphones - $3,000. Parish Council needs to develop a budget for sound equipment.
Combined Service 26th Dec: To be held at Wakari together with Kaikorai, Highgate, Mornington.
Kitchen for Nepal Art Auction: to be held in July. To be confirmed by Hamish Mepham
Partner Support Fund allocation
Council approved the target of $4900 for the 2010/2011 year.
